Free Range

Terms of service

The short version

  • Free Range is yours to play for your own enjoyment, on your own devices.
  • The first land is free. The full version is a one-time purchase, sold and refunded by the store you buy it from.
  • Gold, eggs and chickens live in the game and have no real-world value.
  • Your farm is saved on your device and in your own iCloud if you sync it. We keep no copy, so keep sync on if you'd like a backup.
  • The game and its art, music and words are ours. Please don't copy them.

1. These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Nikku Ang ("we", "us") about the Free Range game ("the game") and this website. By downloading, installing or playing the game, or by using this website, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't play the game or use the site.

The store you get the game from has its own terms, which apply too: Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement and its Media Services Terms for the App Store, and the Google Play Terms of Service for Google Play. Where these terms and the store's terms differ about a purchase, the store's terms decide.

2. Your license to play

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, install and play the game on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial entertainment, as the store's usage rules allow. The game is licensed to you, not sold.

3. Free play and the full version

4. In-game things

Gold, eggs, chickens, buildings, decorations, caretakers and everything else in the game exist only in the game. They can't be bought with real money, have no monetary value, can't be exchanged for money or anything else, and aren't your property: they're part of the license to play.

The people in the game, their names and their stories are made up. Any likeness to a real person is a coincidence.

5. Your farm

Your farm is saved on your device and, on iPhone and iPad with iCloud sync on, in your own iCloud. We keep no copy of it and can't restore it for you. Progress can be lost if you delete the game, if a device is lost or reset, or if you choose another farm when the game asks which of two to keep. We aren't responsible for lost progress, so if you'd like a backup, keep iCloud sync on.

6. Fair play

Please don't copy, sell, rent, lend, share or distribute the game or any part of it; modify it, decompile it or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows you to; remove its notices; or use it in a way that breaks the law.

7. Who owns what

The game, its name and emblem, its art, music, sounds, words and code belong to Nikku Ang and are protected by copyright and other laws. The game is built with open-source software, listed with its licenses on the Licenses page in the game's Settings; those parts are used under their own licenses.

The same goes for this website: its words and pictures are ours. You're welcome to share links to it and to the game's store pages.

8. Updates, and the end of the game

We may update the game to fix problems, add things or change how it plays, and some updates may be needed to keep playing. We may also stop offering the game one day. If we do, the copy on your device will keep working as long as your device can run it.

9. No warranty

We make the game with care, but it's provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promises that it will be free of mistakes, always available, or right for any particular purpose.

10. Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data or progress, coming from your use of the game or this website. Our total liability to you for anything to do with the game is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have as a consumer that the law doesn't let a contract take away.

11. When the license ends

You can stop at any time by deleting the game. The license ends by itself if you break these terms; you then need to stop playing and delete the game.

12. Apple

If you got the game from the App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for the game and its content. Apple has no duty to provide any support or maintenance for the game. If the game fails to match any warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for it; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation for the game. Apple isn't responsible for any claim about the game, including product liability claims, claims that it doesn't meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, or claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property; we are, as far as these terms say. You confirm that you aren't in a country under a United States government embargo or named as a "terrorist supporting" country, and aren't on a United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

13. The law

Free Range is offered to players around the world. These terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines, without regard to its rules about conflicts of law. Wherever you live, you keep every protection the law of your own country gives you as a consumer.

14. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when the game changes. The date at the top of this page says when they last changed, and playing after a change means you accept the new terms.
